Like Water for Chocolate: Striking and sensuous film from a novel by Laura Esquivel set in the early part of the 20th century: a youthful female’s life is conditioned by her serious and unyielding mom, who treats her terribly. Sumptuous story, not without humor, with a excellent cast and a top of the line performance from lead actress Cavazos. Cast includes Lumi Cavazos, Marco Leonardi, Regina Tome, Mario Ivan Martinez, and Ada Carrasco. (113 minutes,’92)
The Prince and the Showgirl: Fairly good but slow moving comedy of saucy American show gal Monroe being courted by Prince Regent of Carpathia (Olivier) throughout the’11 coronation of George V. Filmed in England, with admirable performances by Monroe and Olivier. Cast includes Laurence Olivier, Sybil Thorndike, Jeremy Spencer, and Richard Wattis. (117 minutes,’57)
The Big Squeeze: Boyle works in a bar to aid her injured ballplayer spouse Bercovici but then come to see that he’s neglected to notify her of a $130,000 settlement he’s acquired, so she enlists the services of a drifter-hustler (Dobson) to get the money. Cast includes Lara Flynn Boyle, Peter Dobson, Danny Nucci, Luca Bercovici, Teresa Despina, and Michael Chieffo. (98 minutes,’96)
The Hurricane: The true story of Rubin ‘Hurricane’ Carter, a middleweight title contender, who had his dreams of a boxing title abruptly ended when he was falsely arrested and convicted of a triple homicide. He eventually gives up all hope when imprisoned until a young Blackman, and his adopted Canadian parents take up his lost cause. They are up against staunch racism at every turn, but eventually Hurricane is set free.
Black Hawk Down: The incredible true story recounting the events in Somalia. U.S. soldiers were supposed to be on the ground for only an hour. Things went wrong, and before it was over,’ U.S. soldiers were dead, and so were hundreds from Somalia.
Follow That Camel: Silvers as a conniving sergeant livens up a boring trip to a foreign land. Cast includes Phil Silvers, Jim Dale, Peter Butterworth, Charles Hawtrey, Kenneth Williams, Anita Harris, and Joan Sims. (95 minutes,’67)
High Crimes: Lawyer Claire Kubik has just been told that her husband is not who she thinks he is. Tom Kubik is really Ron Chapman, and he is on trial in the military justice system for the murder of villagers in Latin America. Claire takes on the case but just what will she find out, as the truth is unraveled?

You can usually get a pretty good deal if you shop around. New Movie Rental Read as you watch, it’s a great movie, B quality, but very funny and bloody. In addition, the legal proceedings you could face from the registered owners of the movies themselves could be devastating.
