Norwich – Norfolk was first established by the Romans and Anglo Saxon and has been in existence since then. This town keeps the history from this and the other periods alive in their architecture and arts.
The largest open air market in England is place in Norwich. It was started in the 1070s by the Normans and it still boasts a thriving marketplace today. Modern amenities also included, there are several malls in town with a unique one being built in the side of the hill with the roof sporting a garden.
The Norfolk and Norwich music festival is an international arts festival held every May for sixteen days. This was founded in 1772 to promote classical music and art from the area. Today and also is home for many circus acts, dance and theater groups as well as the music it has become known for.
Norfolk offers a wide selection of gardens. Plantation Gardens is a fully restored Victorian era garden that has been operational since the end of the eighteen hundreds. This garden is in the middle of the busy city center and is often overlooked by tourists. You may also like to go to the Animal Ark which features playgrounds and has a variety of animal and insect wildlife. This park allows you to take your own picnic or you can it at the restaurant so that you can stay all day.
You can wait until dark and enjoy a vigorous nightlife in town. Tombland has some exceptional bars that are located in some real as buildings in town which give it a truly distinctive environment. You can also find exclusive nightclubs and fun stand up comedy acts in this scene.
Some of the best known landmarks in England are here. Norwich Castle was a Norman royal palace in use in 1067. It is now a museum and offers tours through it. The Norwich Cathedral as the rare honor of being they only cathedral anyone to have the Saxon throne remain in its original position. Finished in 1101 it offers unparalleled beauty and tranquility to this day.
This region also has England’s largest protected wetland area of at the Norfolk Broads. You can tour of these via waterways, bicycle trails, footpaths or take one of the railway tours to visit any of the wildlife sanctuaries, windmills or gardens. This is a bird watchers paradise, and is well known for them.
