Blaze of Noon: A hokey tale of Holden torn between his spouse (Baxter) and his real love, flying. Cast includes Anne Baxter, William Holden, Sonny Tufts, William Bendix, and Sterling Hayden. (91 minutes,’87)
Jupiter’s Darling: Lavish musical of Robert Sherwood’s Street to Rome, which weighs down in boredom. Williams is a temptress who dallies with Hannibal (Keel) to stop an attack on Rome. Cast includes Esther Williams, Howard Keel, George Sanders, Marge and Gower Victor, and Norma Varden. (96 minutes,’55)
Only Two Pan Play: Well-intentioned filming of the Kingsley Amis novel That Undecided Sensation (adjusted by Bryan Forbes), yearning for fast giggles instead of satire. Peter Vendors is a librarian flirting with a local councilman?s wife. Will they take things too far? Cast includes Peter Vendors, Mai Zetterling, Virginia Maskell, Richard Attenborough, and Kenneth Griffith. (106 minutes,’62)
The Believer: A brutal evaluation of a yeshiva informed youthful guy in N.Y.C. who opts to become a neo-Nazi skinhead. Gosling gives a stellar performance as a Jew (loosely based on truth) whose rationale is controversial however whose desire is genuine. R. Cast includes Ryan Gosling, Summer Phoenix, Billy Zane, Theresa Russell, Glenn Fitzgerald, Ronald Guttman, and Henry Bean. (98 minutes, 2002)
Spice World: A fantasy view of a few nights in the lives of the pop phenomenon The Spice Girls and their presence with road agent Grant. Cameos by Elton John, Bob Hoskins, Bob Geldof, Elvis Costello, The Fantasy Boys, Jonathan Ross, and Jennifer Saunders. Cast includes The Flavor Gals (Mel B, Emma, Mel C, Geri, and Victoria), Richard E. Grant, Roger Moore, George Wendt, Claire Rushbrook, Mark McKinney, Richard O’Brien, Barry Humphries, Jason Flemyng, Naoki Mari, Meat Loaf, Bill Paterson, Jools Holland, Stephen Roast, and Richard Briers. Dillinger and Capone: In’40, discharged from prison, Al Capone (Abraham) holds the family of John Dillinger (Sheen) for ransom. Al desires the bank robber to recoup 150,000 dollars of Capone’s monies from a hotel in Chicago. The clever plot is increased by smooth acting jobs, although it eventually skids into a basic heist thriller. Cast includes Martin Sheen, F. Murray Abraham, Stephen Davies, Catherine Hicks, Don Stroud, Sasha Jenson, Michael Oliver, Jeffrey Combs, Michael C. Gwynne, Anthony Crivello, Bert Remsen, and Clint Howard. (94 minutes,’95)
Night Moves: L.A. investigator Hackman sets apart his domestic grief to track nymphet Griffith to Florida Keys. Difficult however underrated mental suspense film by Alan Acute leads to shocking pinnacle. Cast includes Gene Hackman, Jennifer Warren, Susan Clark, Edward Binns, Harris Yulin, Kenneth Harms, James Woods, Melanie Griffith, Dennis Dugan, and Max Gail. (99 minutes,’75)
