This is a quiet, poetic measure of life, death, and memory, filled with soft humor and blessedly free of some feel-good platitudes. Cast includes Aarata, Erika Oda, Susuma Terajirna, Taketoshi Naito, Kyoko Kagawa, Kei Tani, Takashi Naito, and Yusuke lseya.
Faces – Highly personal drama in regards to many infidelities is one of the few Cassel movies to become a big hit. Here is a powerful film with grand action, particularly by Carlin and Cassel. Cast includes John Marley, Gena Rowlands, Lynn Carlin, Seymour Cassel, Fred Draper, and Val Avery.
The Horse Whisperer – After her daughter is dangerously injured in a horse riding accident, her wealthy mother takes the horse to a famous horse whisperer in Montana. A romance between the two follows.
Sphere – An extraordinary discovery has been made at the bottom of the ocean. A giant sunken vessel has been found. A team of scientists is sent to the depths to explore. The ship turns out to be a alien craft, with an extraordinary sphere inside. This sphere seems to have an effect on the team of the deep-sea station.
Sugar Town – Engaging variety of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives unite – a musician would-be who will do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone lady who allures the inappropriate men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up ’80s rock megastars, to name a few. Made on a shoestring, although clever and well recognized; tremendous cast comprises a variety of real life musicians. Cast includes Ally Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp.
The Search – Emotional drama of American cadet Clift regarding for concentration camp survivor Jandl in postwar Berlin, when the lad’s mommy glumly looks all over the camps for him. Beautifully performed and directed. Cast includes Montgomery Clift, Ivan Jandl, Aline MacMahon, Jarmila Novotna, and Wendell Corey.
