Nightmare on Elm Street Four: Refreshed by flaming mutt urine, Freddy Krueger ultimately kills all the kids of those who initially burned him to death, and looks for new teenagers to terrorize, although he’s challenged by a “fantasy master,” his metaphysical counterpart. Series was showing its age by this point. Cast includes Renny Harlin, Robert Englund, Rodney Eastman, Danny Hassel, Andras Jones, Tuesday Horseman, Toy Newkirk, Ken Sagoes, Brooke Theiss, and Lisa Wilcox. (92 minutes,’88)
Holiday Affair: Well-finished Christmas time tale of war widow Leigh, with a small child, who’s helped by good guy Corey. Cast includes Robert Mitchum, Janet Leigh, Wendell Corey, Gordon Gebert, Griff Barnett, Esther Dale, Henry O’Neill, and Henry Harry Morgan. (87 minutes,’49)
Cry for Me Billy: A drifter falls in love with an Indian gal, with catastrophic repercussions, in this vicious Western. Its title and supposed year of release keeps changing, however the film doesn’t get some any better. Cast includes Harry Dean Stanton, and Don Wilbanks. (93 minutes,’72)
Disturbia: Kale has had his life turned upside down. His father’s death, which he feel responsible for has traumatized him badly. Snapping on an insensitive teacher, he punches the guy out. Instead of jail time he must serve a period of house confinement. Going stir crazy stuck at home, Kale, and his girlfriend Ashley, start spying on the neighbors. This voyeurism gets serious when they start to suspect that one of the neighbors is a serial killer.
Sgt. Bilko: Master Sergeant Ernie Bilko has a moneymaking plan for every occasion at Fort Baxter, Kansas. His better half Aykroyd, looks the other way till the sergeant’s long ago arch enemy Chief Thorn Hartman turns up looking for a way to nail Bilko to the wall. Martin continues to be a first rate comic and has the support of a highly adept comedy cast. Cast includes Steve Martin, Dan Aykroyd, Phil Hartman, Glen Heady, Daryl Mitchell, Max Casella, Chris Stone, Richard Herd, and Travis Tritt .(94 minutes,’96)
The Leading Man: British backstage show romance in regards to an American film megastar who seduces a playwright’s desolate spouse and his leading-woman mistress. When it might relatively make up its mind whether it’s a joke drama or a light thriller, it’s still extremely amusing stuff. Bon Jovi is excellent as the brash, amoral Yankee, and Galiena and Newton are fetching as the females snared in his web. Cast includes Jon Bon Jovi, Anna Galiena, Lambert Wilson, Thandie Newton, Barry Humphries, and David Warner. (100 minutes,’97)
From Russia With Love: Second James Bond film is one of the best; lots of anticipation and action, and one of the lengthiest, most arousing fight scenes ever orchestrated. Lenya makes an extremely wicked spy flick. Cast includes Sean Connery, Daniela Bianchi, Latte Lenya, Robert Shaw, Bernard Lee, and Lois Maxwell. (118 minutes,’63)
Exit Wounds: Orin Boyd is a cop who doesn’t follow the rules. He has saved the Vice President of the US, but he didn’t follow orders, so he is sent to Detroit’s precinct 21, its worst area. With his new partner George, they set out to clean up the drug problems in the 21st. When they do, they find a lot of dirty cops are involved.
