More Information About The Sarouk Rug

A Sarouk rug is a type of Persian rug that originally originated in Iran, in fact the Arak rug weaving area, typically made in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

For a first-rate specimen you may be be faced with shelling out $45,000 to $60,000 for a rug with a dimension around 9′ x 12′.

There are other kinds of Sarouk rug, for example a Ferehan, a Feheran Sarouk, a Malayer or Josan, and it helps to know something of the divergences among these.

One of the styles from around the 1800’s was the Ferehan [it must be noted it is just called a Ferehan - not a Ferehan Sarouk]. The Ferehan’s used to be produced from around 1875 to 1913 or thereabouts. Nearly all of this type of possessed rose madder background color having all over patterns, no medallion shapes.

Those samples are seldom seen at present because they almost certainly have all worn out. Later from around 1890 to 1914 a different texture came along only accepted as Sarouks, but since then they have turned out to be identified as Ferehan Sarouks.  Read more...

I have a bunch of articles out there about garage floor coatings and coverings, but I know that there are many of us that don’t have the money to buy things like that just because they want to. It’s unfortunate that those same people who do not have much money are the same that generally change oil in their garage, which is likely the most common way of staining garage floors. Car manufacturers don’t help; I used to have a Subaru that had a plastic cover that was almost impossible to remove, but went over the oil pan. There was a space for the drain bolt, but the oil, of course, never drained out of that hole, choosing instead to go every which way, hitting plastic and spraying all over the place. It was, to say the least, a mess.
