Our Nation And The Television Obsession.

A. C. Nielsen Co., in its research says that the average American, in a sixty-five year life will spend nine years watching a television. This translates into twenty eight hours a week or two full months per year of viewing! Just an indicator of our obsession involving them.

Households in the United States have the highest ownership rate on earth today per-capita. With numbers over ninety-nine percent owning a minimum one, and standing at an average of not quite three TV sets in each home. These sets are turned on, (if being watched or even not) for almost seven solid hours per day on average, and when the term couch potato is being used, it does not fall too far from base does it?

A full sixty percent or more of the United States population is able to name all members of a comedy team like the Three Stooges comedy team, but but less than fifteen percent of the same number questioned being able to name any three Supreme Court Justices of the nine that sit on it. A Song About The Television

The band Talking Heads put out a song years ago called Television man. The man depicted in the song watches TV all the time. He watches so much that he has never really dreamed until he watched television. He is inside his TV and outside his TV. All he sees is real and he likes the feeling he gets from his TV.

The world comes crashing into his home through the television. And he admits the TV has made him everything he is. The television man says that people like to knock the TV.

However, he tells us that he and his television are good friends nothing more. In a lovely garden people would like to say hello but it makes no difference what is said people are waiting for television to take them away. The good friend, his television, is what the man watches for everything. The story and song ends by the man claiming the TV has everything he needs.

This is an old song given it was from the’80’s. When I first heard it I related it to my TV habits. I thought back then I was watching too much TV. Now more than 20 years later I realize I am still watching too much television. The song reminded me again to take a look at how much I live for TV.  Read more...

Samsung Televisions

Samsung offers a wide range of televisions using LED, LCD and plasma technology. All the models are high definition TVs (HDTVs) with LEDs having 1080 pixel resolution, and the LCD and plasma TVs offered in 720 pixel and 1080 pixel resolution choices. Samsung also sells television accessories like the Digital Media Extender and a wireless USB adaptor.

Screen sizes for Samsung televisions range from a’ inch LCD to a 65 inch LCD. LED TVs come in 32 inch to 55 inch sizes, and plasma TVs range from 42 to 63 inches. The styling uses the Touch of Color design involving tints that are naturally blended into the more traditional black frame.

Samsung advertises its LED televisions as its best television product. The UNB7000 series was rated highest among LED TVs on CNET. The LED TVs provide outstanding picture quality including “Mega Contrast” ratios of up to 3,000,000:1 for very realistic blacks making it easier to distinguish images in dark scenes. Motion judder and blur is reduced by the Auto Motion Plus 240 Hz feature. The color palette is managed by the Advanced Color Processing technology that provides a deep array of natural colors. The Wide Color Enhancer Pro feature adjusts color pixel by pixel to give a three dimensional color experience.  Read more...
